So I've been putting a lot of thought in to how I can create a fluffy yet competitive 1750pt army list in time for Blog Wars, I've already decided it will be Grey Knight Terminator based but should I go pure terminators or should I throw in some of the juicy Grey Knight wargear?
Here are my 3 main contenders for a possible list...
LIST 1:
Kaldor Draigo.
10 Paladins.
Apothecary, 2x Nemesis Force Falchions, 2x Nemesis Force Halberd, 1x Nemesis Daemon Hammer, 1x Master Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer, 1x Nemesis Force Sword, 1x Master Crafted Nemesis Force Sword, 1x Psycanon, 1x Master Crafted Psycanon, Brotherhood Banner, Psybolt ammunition.
10 Paladins.
Apothecary, 2x Nemesis Force Falchions, 2x Nemesis Force Halberd, 1x Nemesis Daemon Hammer, 1x Master Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer, 1x Nemesis Force Sword, 1x Master Crafted Nemesis Force Sword, 1x Psycanon, 1x Master Crafted Psycanon, Brotherhood Banner, Psybolt ammunition.
Total: 1745pts.
So a 'Draigowing' army footslogging across the board with maximised wound allocation...This list give me the potential to allocate 23 wounds without losing a single model and with only 3 killpoints available to my opponent could prove quite taxing to my opponent. However, Grey Knight Paladins aren't fearless and so a nasty shooting phase could potentially leave me with next to no army fleeing for the board edge by as soon as turn 2.
LIST 2:
Grey Knight Grand Master.
Grey Knight Librarian.
Might of Titan, Quicksilver, The Shrouding.
5 Terminators.
Psycanon, Psybolts.
10 Terminators.
2x Psycanons, 2x Nemesis Force Falchions, Brotherhood Banner.
10 Terminators.
2x Psycanons, 2x Nemesis Force Falchions, Brotherhood Banner.
Vindicare Assassin.
Total: 1750pts.
Ok so more models and a Librarian giving me some psychic support makes this list more focused on getting into close combat with an opponent and using Might of Titan with Quicksilver or Hammerhand to maximise the squads close combat ability. The downfall with this list is relying on the fragile Vindicare Assassin to take out any troublesome units (Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield Combination anyone?) and high armour vehicles, couple that with each model (barring the Grand Master and the Librarian) only having 1 wound and and my opponent can more easily cause the same scenario to occur as in list 1...
LIST 3:
Grand Master Vorth Mordrak.
5 Ghost Knights.
Librarian.
The Summoning, The Shrouding, Might Of Titan.
5x Terminators.
Psycanon
5x Terminators.
Psycanon
Stormraven Gunship.
Land Raider Redeemer.
Warp Stabilisation Field, Psyflame Ammunition.
Land Raider Redeemer.
Warp Stabilisation Field, Psyflame Ammunition.
Total: 1750pts.
This is an example of a heavily mechanised list which utilises the speed of the Stormraven with the Librarians 'The Summoning' power to deliver you Raiders onto your enemy's doorstep. The weakness of this army is that should the Stormraven arrive late then the Land Raiders have the potential to be popped and leave me footslogging with less troops with the previous 2 lists, therefore I'm discounting this list but thought it would be nice to show you a train of thought...
LIST 4:
Grey Knight Grand Master.
10 Terminators.
2x Falchions, 2x Psycanons, Brotherhood Banner, Psybolt Ammunition.
Justicar Thawn.
9 Terminators.
2x Falchions, 2x Psycanons, Brotherhood Banner, Psybolt Ammunition.
Nemesis Dreadknight.
Personal Teleporter, Heavy Psycanon.
Nemesis Dreadknight.
Personal Teleporter, Heavy Psycanon.
Total: 1750pts
Finally on our list is a mixture of footslogging and mechanised Grey Knights, this time I would use the Grand Master's Grand strategy perk to make sure the Dreadknights are always on the enemy's mind, with a 24" charge range and the 30" shunt movement coupled with my ability to make them either out flanking or or scoring this means that for most games.

So there we have it 4 lists I feel I can have ready for Blog Wars...I'm not fully decided between lists 1, 3 and 4 but as I said before I'm discounting the second list down to the sheer lack of troops and lack of long range firepower, therefore I'm going to concentrate on building, painting and magnetising my Terminators along with trying to get 2 Nemesis Dreadknights and my Draigo model painted to maximise my options where these lists are concerned, hope you guys are as excited as I am about getting going...stay tuned for more!!!Labels: Blog Wars Challenge, List Building, Tactics
